Job Details
1. Recognize and analyses patient’s needs
2. Plan, organize and render comprehensive nursing care
3. Carry out all aspects of personal care as required by the patient
4. Apply scientific principles in giving patient care
5. Utilize available resources in giving patient care
6. Include the family in the care of patients
7. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families
8. Evaluate own performance in relation to nursing care
9. Maintain appropriate patient care records
10. Recognize the legal implications in nursing and adhere to policies set-up by the hospital and Nursing Service
11. Participate in the medical management of patients as a member within the health care team
12. Act as a liaison between the patient, family and hospital personnel
13. Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the patient, patients’ family and other staff
14. Maintain competence by keeping knowledge up to date
15. Maintain the standard of nursing care at the highest possible level.
16. Maintain professional dignity.
17. Familiarize self with the hospital routine
18. Relieve the Ward In charge as required
19. Promote good inte-personal relationships
20. Assist with implementing polices of the institution in relation to patient care
21. Adhere to institutional polices and procedures at all times
22. Suggest ideas to improve the physical facilities of the ward and patient care
23. Assist with maintaining the supplies and equipment in the ward
24. Supervise the non-professional staff as required
25. Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the ward
26. Demonstrate effective communication skills
27. Perform any other job that is suitably assigned by the ward Incharge.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Give relevant health education to patients and their families.
2. Familiarise self, with the student’s learning needs and guide them as appropriate in giving patient care.
3. Guide the non-professional staff in their responsibilities
4. Attend all staff and education meetings as required
5. Attend and participate in professionally related activities
6. Attend the induction programme and other identified training requirements
7. Maintain clinical knowledge and skills upto date
